About MusePulse
MusePulse is a small independent team building music practice tools on the web and iOS. Our free browser tools give you an accurate click and a reliable pitch reference; our iOS apps go further and measure how tight you actually play.
Why we build these tools
Most practice tools flatter you. A metronome that just clicks is easy — it has no opinion about whether you are actually with it. A tool that tells you that you rushed by 20 milliseconds is useful, because now you know exactly what to fix. Everything we ship is built around that idea: honest measurement beats comfortable vagueness.
What we make
Five free web tools, no ads and no signup:
- Online Metronome — a rock-solid click with time signatures, accents, and tap tempo.
- Chromatic Tuner — tune any instrument right in the browser.
- Tap BPM Counter — tap along to any song and find its tempo.
- Tempo Markings Chart — every Italian tempo term with its BPM range.
- Note Frequency Chart — the frequency of every note in hertz.
And two iOS apps:
- Rhythm Challenge — Metronome — a metronome and rhythm trainer that grades your timing. Tap the screen or play into the microphone and get millisecond-precision feedback: early, late, or on time. Free to download, with an optional Premium subscription.
- Tuner: Guitar, Violin & Bass — a free, minimal chromatic tuner. The screen turns green when you are in tune. That is the whole interface, and that is the point.
More instruments and more apps are on the way, and Android versions of both apps are planned.
What we believe
- Accuracy first. If a tool measures something, it must measure truthfully — sample-accurate scheduling in the metronome, cent-level pitch detection in the tuner, millisecond timing verdicts in Rhythm Challenge.
- Free core tools. The web tools are free and stay free. The essentials of practice should not sit behind a paywall.
- No ads on the web tools. Open a page, start practicing. Nothing blinks at you mid-take.
- Privacy by default. Audio processing stays on-device. Your microphone input is analyzed locally and never uploaded.
That is the whole story — no grand founding myth, just a team that practices, got tired of tools that flatter, and started building ones that do not.
Frequently asked questions
What is MusePulse?
MusePulse is a small independent team that builds music practice tools on the web and iOS. The free web tools include an online metronome, a chromatic tuner, a tap BPM counter, and reference charts. The iOS apps — Rhythm Challenge and Tuner: Guitar, Violin & Bass — listen to your playing and give honest, precise feedback.
Are the MusePulse web tools really free?
Yes. Every web tool is free, with no ads, no account, and no signup. The iOS apps are free to download; Rhythm Challenge offers an optional Premium subscription for extra features.
Does MusePulse record or upload my audio?
No. Audio processing stays on your device. The web tuner analyzes your microphone input locally in the browser using the Web Audio API, and the iOS apps process audio on the phone. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
Who is behind MusePulse?
A small independent team of developers and musicians — the same people who make the Rhythm Challenge and Tuner iOS apps. We keep the team page modest on purpose: the tools should speak for themselves.
Are the MusePulse apps available on Android?
Not yet. Rhythm Challenge and Tuner: Guitar, Violin & Bass are currently iOS-only, and Android versions of both are planned. The web tools work on any device with a modern browser, including Android phones.
